Why Christadelphians Are Not A Cult

The main reason is that we have no leader except Jesus, who we confess is the Christ, the Son of the living God; who came in the flesh, and is the ruler of the world.

Christadelphians are a community consisting of around 70,000 members worldwide. Formalized as a sect one hundred and fifty years ago, they believe the same things that the apostles preached and the 1st century Christians believed. Historical figures such as Isaac Newton believed and wrote identically to the tenets held by Christadelphians. They have no clergy, and place little emphasis on member numbers, or money.

Accusations about cults, false teachers, or followers of antichrist, are unreasonable. They are only a method of making church tradition infallible, and reasoning around the scriptures unacceptable. John’s epistle gives a test for how to identify the “antichrist.” We are pleased for you to evaluate us, as you should everyone, by the Biblical test:

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.” (1 John 4:1-3)

We confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Therefore he cannot be God, because spirit cannot be flesh. Jesus is the Son of the living God, begotten of the Holy Spirit, resurrected from the dead, seated at the right hand of God, and future king of the world.
